Our Interns

Michelle Bernardo

Michelle recently graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Biology. As an undergrad, she led community service events and connected classmates to professional and wellness resources through several campus organizations promoting accessibility and healthy living. She also has experience collaborating with graduate students to catalog hutia bones and collect Cuban Treefrog toe samples. With the same fervor, Michelle hopes to foster a welcoming environment for other urban youth and Spanish-speakers to explore natural resources, near and far. Michelle remains mesmerized by the artistry, finesse, and resilience of wildlife and uses this as motivation to study and preserve biodiversity. Guided by her fledging curiosity, she hopes this internship will further her skills and realize her niche in conservation before continuing her education. This internship will also allow her to gain technical acumen, fieldwork skills, and science communication experience.
