WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Hispanic Access Foundation announced that Lissette Sanchez Bishins will serve as its Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and will oversee HAF’s programs and processes to help support the organization’s mission to connect Latinos with partners and opportunities to improve their lives and create an equitable society.

“I’m honored to join an organization that in just eight years has established a track record of engaging and growing leaders within the Latino community” said Bishins. “HAF is poised for growth. I truly look forward to both the challenges and rewards to come as we chart the course for the next 8 years and beyond.”

Bishins has established herself as an accomplished, mission-driven nonprofit leader having served as CEO of Child and Family Networks Center in Alexandria, executive director of Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria, executive director of the American Red Cross Alexandria Chapter, executive director of Beth El House in Alexandria and as regional director for YWCAs of the Southeast Region. In those roles, Bishins has led the groups to financial and programmatic success, while developing positive work cultures focused on quality and creating a team that is motivated to learn, grow and deliver excellence.

“Lissette will be instrumental as Hispanic Access works to build an enduring organization” said Maite Arce, president and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “Lissette’s long track record of systems and operations will help us to continue to be responsive to community needs as we experience a growth in our work of building leaders and serving communities.”

During her career, Bishins’ leadership has been recognized for its excellence – her organization was the 2015 winner of the Leadership Fairfax Nonprofit Leadership Award, as well as a 2013 finalist for the Washington Post Excellence in Nonprofit Management Award and as a finalist for 2012 Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman EXCEL Award. Bishins holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Emerson College in Boston, Mass.
