Godinez joined Hispanic Access through its internship program as an intern for the U.S. Forest Service, where she engaged with partners to provide opportunities for underrepresented communities to enjoy and steward public lands. Then, as a Program Associate for Hispanic Access’ conservation program, she supported the effective and efficient implementation of various conservation initiatives with multiple partners across the country and led the planning and execution of Latino Conservation Week, which holds more than 300 events across the country and engages hundreds of Latinos.

“As a first-generation Mexican American, I’ve felt naturally drawn to support immigrant communities in navigating the systems of a new country,” said Godinez. “It is an honor to transition to this new role and continue to help make a difference in the lives of Latinos the same way Hispanic Access and the MANO team did for me.”

Godinez will plan and coordinate events and activities for Latino Conservation Week and work closely with various stakeholders, including community leaders, environmental organizations, government agencies, schools, and volunteers, to promote environmental stewardship and participation in Latino Conservation Week.

“Jessica is very passionate about reconnecting Latino communities with their innate relationship with nature,” said Maite Arce, president and CEO of Hispanic Access. “This passion comes through when connecting with stakeholders and community members. I am excited to be able to have Jessica dedicate herself entirely to the expansion of the reach and impact of Latino Conservation Week.”

Godinez graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor's degree in global affairs with concentrations in environment and international development.
