Category: News Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today on the 46th Inauguration, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office. In response to this historic day, Hispanic Access Foundation’s President and CEO Maite Arce released the following statement:

“Today marks the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration’s journey to preserve our nation’s democracy and increase access, equity and justice for all. We hope to continue the long history we’ve had working with these leaders in our mission to establish access, develop leaders and elevate the Latino community’s voice.

“Our work with the Obama-Biden administration led to the creation of new national monuments and policies that not only fostered clean air and water and protected public lands, but also provided more outdoor access for communities. Additionally, the Administration was critical to the formation of our MANO Project, which creates a pipeline of talent for our federal land, water and wildlife management agencies.

“As a champion for many conservation causes, including those that have helped to bring more equitable access to public lands -- Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Outdoors for All Act, the Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act, and San Gabriel Mountains, Foothills, and Rivers Protection Act -- Vice President Harris has continually showed her commitment to empowering communities.

“Now, as they begin their Administration’s term, we look forward to building on these shared experiences. Whether it’s protecting public lands, mitigating climate change, tackling immigration reform, supporting our nation’s Dreamers, creating career opportunities or focusing on equity and justice, we will continue to work together to address the critical issues facing our nation and Latino communities.
