He said about the experience, "The hike was a great opportunity to instill in our youth the cultural and spiritual importance, as well as the connection that we as desert-dwellers have with our habitat. In addition, it gave us the opportunity to exercise in the outdoors, which is very important for our health."
The group split into three groups and took different hikes. Hispanic Access Foundation's President Maite Arce was in the lucky group that got to see Long Horn Sheep on their hike. The majority of the people who attended, had never visited this national park before. The park is within a 3 hour drive to some large populations centers, it is 140 miles east of Los Angeles, 175 miles northeast of San Diego and 215 miles southwest of Las Vegas.
