In Closing

Written by: Jane Nolan

As my fellowship comes to a close, I find myself busy but content. My project was challenging, but I feel satisfied with the outcome and excited for the future. I have learned so much not just about my project subject matter, but about how FWS operates.

One of the most appealing parts of public service for me is the emphasis on government transparency and accountability from within. Everyone is working toward being a truly public service and the daily minutiae of my work reflects that institutional value. It reminds me of my duty to the American people as a public servant, and is both humbling and inspiring.

I’m almost overwhelmed by the sheer possibility of what lies ahead with a completed DFP under my belt. A variety of potential career options have opened to me, and I’m excited to find out what happens next. Thank you to the DFP program and everyone who has helped me along the way, it’s been quite a ride.
